How to compare chewable iron

• Iron per serving: listings range from about 5 mg in some kids' chewables to 60 mg or more in adult formulas. Check the amount of elemental iron on the label.
• Iron form: labels name the form, such as ferrous fumarate, ferrous gluconate, iron bisglycinate, carbonyl iron or heme iron.
• Added nutrients: many products pair iron with vitamin C, B12 or folate. Some are full multivitamins with iron.
• Sugar: some gummies are sugar-free or sweetened with xylitol. Check the panel if you watch sugar.
